Eye checkup Camps

Sound eyesight is the key to lead a productive and fulfilling life. Compromised Eyesight, especially in the formative stage of a school going child however, is a big hindrance in the learning outcomes. Mathura Foundation undertook need assessment in the villages around Jambhulpada (Taluka Sudhagad, District Raigad) and found that there is an urgent need to screen eyesight of school children. Many teachers in and around Jambhulpada schools, especially the Zilla Parishad schools had suggested to screen their students for eyesight. Mathura Foundation through their program implementing partner J. V. Gokal Charity Trust, conducted a series of Eye checkup Camps in these schools in the month of November and December 2021. 685 school students were screened in these camps from 23 schools. 302 students were identified for eyesight correction by using spectacles and all those spectacles were distributed among these children. It’s indeed a pleasing sight to see students regularly using those spectacles in schools as well as in their daily routine. This has improved their learning outcomes. Parents, teachers and community leaders have appreciated and acknowledged the benefits of these Eye checkup camps for their school going children.
